Review: Yidsun SPK 796 Bluetooth Speakers

Elvis Chen , The Vice General Manager over at the Yidsun company were kind enough to send me a demo example of their bluetooth speakers, The Yidsun SPK-796. If you are new to dailymobile.se , check out these Yidsun SPK-796 unboxing pictures that i posted a few days ago. I have been using speakers in 7 days now and i must say that I’m impressed about the weight and size of these speakers…

The Speakers measures 160×50x50mm (WxDxH) and weighs 217g which makes it very portable. The first thing that i noticed when i powered on the speakers is the blue touch buttons in the top were you can adjust the volume and pause / play the music. You can also change the song by holding down the volum buttons. I prefer these touch buttons way more than the usual buttons that most of the speakers have. It also looks much more high tech with touch buttons on the speakers ;)

In the back of the speakers you can find a mini USB port and a 3.5mm jack. You can use the mini USB port to charge the speakers and one charge will last up to 4 hours of music playing or 6 hour talk time or up to 250 hours in the standby mode. Thanks to the microphone in the front, you also can use the Yidsun SPK-796 bluetooth speakers as a handsfree solution during a call.

Setting up the speakers is exceptionally easy; just start the speakers and go to your bluetooth settings on the phone and do a basic search for other bluetooth devices and your phone will find the speaker, Use the standard 0000 bluetooth code you’re good to go. When paired with my Nokia n95-1, they delivered surprisingly good sound quality, just like the phone itself. I have to admit, I really did not expect much from these speakers. To be honest, I figured that the speakers would sound terrible considering how small they are. Surprisingly, after listening to a few songs, I was really impressed at how loud and crisp the speakers sounded. Admittedly, while the speaker does sound good, it still lacks sufficient bass to add that extra kick in songs. Booming bass tracks tend to sound hollow on the speakers, so don’t expect it to belt out bass heavy techno tracks. Once again, such a small set, the sound quality was amazing.

Volume was high enough for its size and higher than the Sony Ericsson MPS-75 that i compared with and the audio was mostly clean and clear. Though they deliver a satisfying experience, keep in mind that the Yidsun SPK-796 speakers are not designed to replace your home stereo, Note that these are not home-theatre speakers, but they’re satisfying overall. And at $79, Its well worth the price.

Pros: Small and portable; simple to use; good sound quality for its size.

Cons: As all other small speakers, The Lacks of bass.
