Colorful iPhone icon pillows

500x_iphone_icon_pillows.jpg

I don't even have an iPhone, but I'm digging these icon pillows. They're colorful, cute, happy, and soft, characteristics that I wouldn't ordinarily associate with a shiny black gadget.

Apple's 'Remote' application was a good start, but we've known for some time now that the platform was capable of far, far more. ThinkFlood is stepping up today and proving our assumptions right, as the RedEye universal remote control system effectively converts your iPhone or iPod touch into a remote for any IR-equipped component. The app itself is completely free to download, though it's the $188 base station that really makes the magic happen; your handheld talks to said dock via WiFi, and if you've got an AV device, home automation system or pretty much anything that responds to IR signals, your iPhone can now control it. The setup supports multiple rooms, controllers and users simultaneously, and we're told that it "controls a virtually unlimited number of devices and can store a virtually unlimited number of commands." Heck, this thing even reacts to multitouch gestures and accelerometer controls. Don't believe us? Check the vids just past the break.

The Nokia N900 web browser is extremely powerful and lets you access and use Google Docs, Calendar, Google Wave, Google Voice, Gmail, and more. It is more like a small netbook than a phone with this browser and if you are a Google user you may find it works well for you.

Sony Ericsson X10

Here are a few photos samples taken with the 8.1MP camera on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Please note that the firmware is still in beta so the photo quality will be better in the final version of the firmware.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is the manufacturer’s first Android phone. It is rather high-end, equipped with a 1GHz Snapdagon processor, 4-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 480×854 pixels and an 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus. However, its software features are just as impressing. What it adds to the Android universe is a personalized interface, called UX (from User eXperience). Basically, UX combines various entertainment and social media features.

nokia n900

Mark from the Nokia Blog has published his review of the Nokia N900. Head over to this post to read the N900 review.

Is the Nokia N900 the best device to have right now? That’s not an easy question to answer because there isn’t one perfect device. It depends on what you need. I’ve recently cycled between the iPhone 3GS, Motorola Droid, Nokia N97, and Nokia N900. If applications or music is important to you, then look elsewhere. I need a device that has to have a good web browser AND a good camera. That makes the N900 the best device for me… better than the iPhone 3GS, Droid, and the N97.

Don´t Push the Button – Cool Satio marketing by Operator 3 in sthlm

The service provider 3 held an event in Stockholm’s Central Station where they were demonstrating how the 12MP camera works. They did this by allowing people who were passing by to take pictures, which were then exposed to a very large screen. This is a great way to market the phone, dont you think?

The Sony Ericsson Satio (previously known as the Idou) offers the ultimate multimedia experience. The 3.5 inch screen allows for crystal clear video playback, the 12.1 megapixel offers even clearer pictures and the full touch media menu lets you navigate the handset with ease. The Satio lets you enjoy any form of entertainment, anytime, anywhere.

iPhone Tip: Change your SSH password to prevent getting virus

As you may have read on other sites a new virus is spreading on the jailbroken iPhones. The virus uses the default password in SSH to take over the phone, but there is a simple way to prevent the virus to take over the phone and it is by changing the default code for SSH

Just follow these simple steps to change the default SSH password:

  1. Install the “Mobile Terminal” through Cydia
  2. Run Mobile Terminal and type “su root” (press “enter”)
  3. Enter the password, which is “alpine” as the default (hit “Enter”)
  4. Type “passwd” (press “enter”)
  5. Confirm password twice (to confirm with “enter”)
  6. Done :)
