Live from Nokia booth tour in CTIA WITE 2009

The folks at Into Mobile has published a few photos from the Nokia booth in CTIA WITE 2009 (San Diego). Head over to this article to view the photos.

The highlight of Nokia’s booth was the Nokia Booklet 3G. It’s small, it’s light and it’s incredibly sexy. Is it worth the money? We say no. But if we somehow come into a boatload of money, the Nokia Booklet 3G will be at the top of our gotta-have list!

Spotify signs music cooperation agreement with TeliaSonera

Swedish telecommunications operator TeliaSonera AB said Thursday it has signed a cooperation agreement with music streaming service provider Spotify in order to ramp up its service offering and attract new customers. Under the two-year agreement, TeliaSonera will develop Spotify’s music service for computers, mobile phones and eventually television, the Stockholm-based company said.

In a few months, Telia and Spotify will launch a mobile offering to customers in the Swedish market, it added. TeliaSonera’s Swedish head of broadband services, Stefan Trampus, told Dow Jones Newswires that his company signed the deal with Spotify to attract new customers and make existing ones more loyal through an improved service offering.

TeliaSonera plans to make Spotify available on a number of new platforms, he said, adding that it expects to distribute the service on television some time next year by installing it in digital TV boxes. A number of companies across the telecoms sector have recently announced plans to increase their focus on consumer content.

Finland’s Nokia Corp., the world’s largest handset maker, earlier this year launched the Ovi application download store to compete with Apple Inc.’s App Store, and also announced the creation of a new Solutions unit that will integrate its offerings of services and mobile phones.

Spotify, which is funded by paid subscriptions and advertising, was launched in 2008 and is currently available in a number of European countries including Sweden, the U.K, and France.

Around 5.5 million people worldwide currently use the music service, according to TeliaSonera.

nokia n97 camera cover lens

Nokia finally admits that the lens cover on the Nokia N97 have been mounted to close to the lens glass which makes it it easy to scratch the lens on the Nokia N97. If you are one of those “few” that have this problem, try the following tip:

If you’re an N97 user and you’ve noticed the image quality on your device is affected by this, then this is what you should do:

1: Take a soft cloth and clean the lens.

2: If that doesn’t work, get in touch with your nearest Nokia Care Point where the Nokia Care Point staff can then determine whether or not the lens and or the lens cover mechanism needs replacing under the device warranty.

Nokia testcenter Offtopic, men ändå spännandeJag hitta precis den här artikeln. Lite spännande att se hur testerna går till, ska leta och se om jag inte kan hitta en likadan för iPhone!

Läs mer:

We had a chance to take a tour of Nokia’s research and development facility in San Diego this week — and while we’re afraid to say we didn’t see any Maemo 6-powered devices or Symbian^4 emulators lying around, we did see some pretty cool stuff, particularly in the product testing laboratories where engineering samples and final products are put through pure hell. The idea is to simulate years’ worth of real-life product use in just a few days — individual tests last anywhere from a few hours to three weeks or longer — by pressing buttons, sliding sliders, actuating hinges, heating, cooling, wetting, drying, dropping, whacking, shaking, rubbing, bending, and generally defacing the phones in every way imaginable. Once a phone finally breaks, they look for obvious reasons — cracked plastic, broken springs, and the like — but if that initial analysis fails, they’ve got a well-equipped lab on site complete with a scanning electron microscope and CT scanner for taking microscopic looks at failed components in both two and three dimensions; from here, they can find broken connections on chips, incorrectly-fabricated materials, and the occasional ant eye magnified a couple thousand times (it’s posted on the wall in the lab, and yes, it’s scary). Follow the break for a cheerful montage of a few Nokia phones getting mercilessly beaten beyond recognition.

IIFL has recommended a reduce rating on Bharti Airtel with a price target of Rs 356 in its report dated October 6, 2009. The share closed at Rs 358.35, down Rs 1.05, or 0.29%.

"Typifying the ferocious competition in the Indian telecom sector, RCOM followed Tata DoCoMo in announcing sharp rate cuts for outgoing calls (at least 25% below average industry rates) on the basis that its relatively less-utilised network will accommodate the consequent surge in traffic and enable revenue to grow (following two quarters of modest growth despite GSM launch). Bharti, Vodafone, Idea and BSNL may be unable to retaliate because of spectrum-related capacity bottlenecks (3G networks are 12 months away). Incrementally, RCOM can divert 4-5% of industry traffic to itself, and so can Tata DoCoMo. With more entrants (Aircel, Uninor, Etisalat) having progressively fewer differentiation options, we model a 10% reduction in Bharti’s mobile revenues for FY11 and beyond, and accordingly cut FY11 and FY12 EPS estimates by 16%. MNP and TRAI’s newfound interest in pre-second billing are other concerns. We downgrade the stock to reduce with target price of Rs 356," says IIFL's report.

itechsolarvoice908I always forget to bring my Bluetooth headset inside from my car and charge it. That means each time I want to use it the thing is usually dead. i.Tech has announced a new Bluetooth headset that will help me stay powered up for hands free use called the SolarVoice 908.

The device has solar panels on the back to help charge the battery and features sound reduction technology to eliminate background noise. The headset also uses a design that allows air to flow to the ear canal so your ears don’t feel plugged up when you wear the headset.

Other features include support for A2DP for streaming music from your compatible phone to the headset. Two devices can be paired to the headset at the same time and the wireless range is 33 feet. iTech’s SolarVoice 908 is available now for $74.99 on Amazon.
