The official Skype client for Nokia 5800, N97 and 5530 got launched a few days ago (and i totally missed the release 
). The application works only in these countries for the moment: United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Australia and Hong-Kong.
Really, this news is great. Skype client launched VOIP application for Nokia 5800,N97 and Nokia 5530 but this application works some countries like United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Austria except India.

A good alternative to Skype for the Nokia N97 would be MO-Call, which works in most countries.
