Washington Post reviews the Nokia N900

Posted by jestin Friday, December 25, 2009 0 comments

nokia n900

Washington Post reviews the Nokia´s latest flagship phone, the Nokia N900. Head over to this post to read the review

The Nokia N900 is a powerful smartphone with many options for customization and tinkering. It has a superb browser, and the multimedia features are hard to beat. The user interface, however, can be frustrating to navigate, and consumers who are used to their smartphone’s interface coming in a friendly, pretty package will likely be turned off by the N900. If you’re looking for something a little more intuitive but still customizable, check out the HTC Hero or even the Motorola Droid.

Review : Iphone Intro Skins

Review: Intoro skins

Review: Intoro skins

Intoro Skins makes what their name says, skins. Not any type of skin but custom made meaning you can get any picture you want to get onto your personalized skins.

So I went over to intoroskins.co.uk website and placed my order. Designing is pretty simple since the user only has to upload his/her picture(or simply choose those that are already available on the site) and choose where how they would like to position their picture using a simple flash interface. But the most difficult time was when I went on to place my order, the site seems to have problems in remembering you login and continuously makes re-login after every page, very annoying but this only occurs when you try to order more than 1 design.

Review: Intoro skins

But after that I finally managed to receive my skins. The front face of the pamphlet in which the skins came in.

The back of the pamphlet which includes the skins features and application instruction.

Review: Intoro skins

A 2 year warranty card telling that the skin you ordered was made to last.

Review: Intoro skins

Skin 1 – Leopard

Review: Intoro skins

Skin 2 – My own design…

Application of the skins are fairly simple since instructions are already given at the back of the pamphlet(look at the pictures above).

The front

The back.

The skin sits on the device perfectly and even has a cut-out for the proximity sensor and for the camera at the back:

The Hole for the proximity sensor.

The Hole for the camera.

Review: Intoro skins

The skin has a nice look, especially in dim light…

Review: Intoro skins

Sadly, the sides of the device aren’t covered, ruining the effect…

But the skin isn’t all about praise. There are also many negative points.

  • Since the skin covers the front of the device there is no way to put a screen protector on the screen thus leaving it vulnerable to scratches.
  • The Skin does not cover the sides of the device thus ruining the whole continuity of a picture as displayed on the website.
  • The skin is not all that resistant. I got a few scratches(unintentional) after just a few days of usage:

Review: Intoro skins

All in all, the skins are quite a good choice for people who don’t want bulky cases for their iPhones(or other devices). This type of skins is quite fashionable but still gives the assurance that the back of the iphone won’t get scratched…

Available at 7.99 Euro over at intoroskins.co.uk, I would give the skins a rating of 2.7/5.

(Get 20% discount by adding this promo code when ordering the intoro skin: dailymobile20)

Verdict: 50-50, if you are a protection freak, go get yourself some real cases otherwise, go for IntoroSkins.

Nokia N97 Mini Review

Posted by jestin Sunday, December 6, 2009 0 comments

nokia n97 mini

The Nokia N97 Mini gets reviewed by Phone Arena. Head over to this post to read the review. The new Nokia N97 mini is designed as companion to the successful Nokia N97. Designed with a social and style-conscious consumer in mind, the Nokia N97 mini is a smaller mobile computer with stylish stainless steel cues, featuring a tilting 3.2″ touch display, QWERTY keyboard and fully customizable homescreen that makes each Nokia N97 mini as unique as a fingerprint. The Nokia N97 mini delivers a truly personal internet experience in a compact handset based on the iconic design of the Nokia N97.

Ultimately, we like the Nokia N97 mini much better than its physically bigger brother. It comes with more appealing design, is made of materials with better quality and delivers improved in-call quality and operating system stability. Unfortunately, the N97 mini retains several of the shortcomings of the N97, like sluggish operational speed and limited video codec support. At the time of this review, the price of the N97 mini is slightly higher than what you would need to shell out for the N97, but this doesn’t change our opinion that the Mini is a better choice than Nokia´s flagship handset.

Review: Sony Ericsson Aino

The guys at PhoneArena has finally published their review of the Sony Ericsson Aino. The Sony Ericsson Aino is an touchscreen phone and its key points are Remote Play with PLAYSTATION 3 and the PlayTV service support. It also sports an 8-megapixel camera, 3″ touchscreen with 16 mln colors and a resolution of 240×432 pixels. In addition, Sony Ericsson Aino has Wi-Fi, A-GPS, 3G support and Stereo Bluetooth. Head over to this page to read the review.

Similarly to the Sony Ericsson Satio, the Aino rolls out too late to make a difference. If the handset had been released at the beginning of the year, it could have stood a chance against the multimedia cell phones. The market has, however, developed really fast and the Sony Ericsson Aino looks obsolete at the end of 2009.

Gets thumbs up - Nokia N900 Review

Posted by jestin Wednesday, December 2, 2009 0 comments

nokia n900

Mark from the Nokia Blog has published his review of the Nokia N900. Head over to this post to read the N900 review.

Is the Nokia N900 the best device to have right now? That’s not an easy question to answer because there isn’t one perfect device. It depends on what you need. I’ve recently cycled between the iPhone 3GS, Motorola Droid, Nokia N97, and Nokia N900. If applications or music is important to you, then look elsewhere. I need a device that has to have a good web browser AND a good camera. That makes the N900 the best device for me… better than the iPhone 3GS, Droid, and the N97.
